1. General
These terms and conditions apply to all services provided by NE Sweep. By booking an appointment, you agree to these terms.
2. Service & Workmanship
We will carry out all work with reasonable skill and care. If you are not satisfied with our work, please notify us as soon as possible so we can address any issues.
3. Appointments & Access
It is your responsibility to ensure safe and clear access to the work area at the agreed time. If access is not possible or the appointment is missed, a cancellation fee may apply (see Section 6).
4. Delays & Unforeseen Circumstances
We will make every effort to complete the work within the agreed timeframe. If delays occur due to unforeseen circumstances, we will inform you and arrange a suitable alternative appointment as soon as reasonably possible.
5. Condition of Chimney & Advice Given
Our service involves sweeping the chimney and providing a visual inspection where possible. We do not conduct structural assessments or guarantee the overall integrity of the chimney.
If we identify any issues, we will inform you and may recommend further investigation by a qualified professional.
6. Cancellations
You have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking, in line with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If work has begun with your consent within this period, we may charge for work completed up to the cancellation date.
If you cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover lost time.
7. Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion of the work.
We accept cash, card payments, and bank transfers.
If payment is not made on the day, we may charge interest at a reasonable rate in line with statutory guidelines, to cover the cost of recovering overdue payments.
8. Defects & Complaints
If you notice an issue with the work completed, please inform us as soon as reasonably possible.
We will assess the issue and, if it is due to our work, take appropriate corrective action in line with your consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
9. Liability & Limitations
We take great care in our work, using protective coverings, low-tack tape, and professional-grade HEPA equipment to minimise dust and disturbance. However, chimney sweeping is an inherently dusty process, and minor soot marks, dust settlement, or surface scuffs may still occur.
9A. Property Preparation and Decorative Surfaces
Customers should ensure the area around the fireplace is clear and that any freshly decorated, delicate, or valuable surfaces are protected or covered before work begins.
NE Sweep cannot accept responsibility for marking, dust movement, or minor cosmetic damage to paintwork, wallpaper, carpets, or furnishings where reasonable care has been taken and appropriate protective measures used.
9B. Potential for Damage During Work
While every care is taken, the nature of chimney work means that hidden defects, weak components, or existing damage may become apparent or worsen during cleaning or inspection.
NE Sweep cannot accept responsibility for damage that occurs as a result of such pre-existing weaknesses, including but not limited to cracked liners, loose bricks, damaged fire bricks, stove components, or poorly fitted terminals.
9C. Accidental Damage
In the unlikely event that accidental damage is caused directly by NE Sweep, we will assess the situation and, where appropriate, offer repair, replacement, or reasonable compensation at our discretion. This excludes wear and tear, pre-existing defects, or minor decorative damage consistent with the normal risks of the trade.
We accept liability for losses resulting from our breach of contract, but not for losses that were not foreseeable at the time of entering into the contract, except where required by law.
We are also not liable for issues arising from improper use, maintenance, or external factors beyond our control.10. Health & Safety
We use protective coverings and professional-grade equipment to ensure a clean and safe process.
We will not proceed with work if there are significant safety concerns, such as an unsafe appliance or chimney structure.
If we identify a safety risk, we may recommend remedial action before further use of the appliance.
11. Data Protection & Privacy
Any personal information provided will be used solely for booking and record-keeping purposes.
We do not share your details with third parties unless legally required.
12. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these terms when necessary. The most up-to-date version will always be available on our website.
