YOUR CHIMNEY SWEEP APPOINTMENT

what to expect

  • NE Sweep chimney sweep arriving for a customer appointment

    Pre Sweep

Please clear an area of approximately 3 m × 2 m in front of your stove or fireplace so I have enough space to work. If space is limited, don’t worry—I can usually adapt to the available area.

Remove ornaments, companion sets and any large pieces of unburnt fuel from around the appliance. Ash can be left in place, as I will vacuum it away during the sweep.

There is no need to remove the internal parts of your stove. I will do this where required.

Please make sure the appliance is extinguished the night before your appointment and is fully cool before I arrive.

    During Sweep

I begin by checking the stove, fireplace and accessible parts of the chimney or flue before selecting the equipment needed for the job.

The area around the appliance is protected with suitable sheeting, and the stove or fireplace opening is sealed to contain soot and debris.

I then sweep the chimney or flue using professional rotary power-sweeping equipment . A hazardous-dust HEPA vacuum and air scrubber are used to help keep soot and dust under control.

Once the sweep is complete, I clean the appliance and surrounding work area. A smoke draw test is then carried out to ensure the system is drawing properly.

    Post Sweep

After completing the chimney sweep, I’ll take the time to share any recommendations or maintenance tips that may help improve the performance and longevity of your fireplace or stove. This is also a good opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the work carried out, future maintenance or the safe use of your appliance.

You’ll receive a digital sweep certificate on the same day as a record of the work completed.

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer. I can provide my banking details at the end of the appointment, whichever method suits you best.
